The Polaroid software is the standout perk in the prepaid entry level phone for MetroPCS (and later for parent company T-Mobile), whose other hopeful claim to fame is its large 5.5-inch display.
That and the price. Metro slashes the $140 price tag with a $70 rebate, which brings it down to $70 overall.
This isn't new by any means, but jumbo handsets like this typically carry expensive high-end components that jack up the price.
Otherwise, the Fierce XL's hardware is all about keeping costs low, though there is an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera for documenting the world around you.
The Fierce XL, which follows up the lackluster Fierce 2 , launches November 2 with MetroPCS before popping onto T-Mobile later in the holiday season.
